Senior Manager (Geotechnical Engineering) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/380/09]

 

Duties

Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Development, the appointee is expected to be a qualified geotechnical engineer who will play a key role in various capital, operation and property management projects from planning to implementation and delivery, and actively participate in office management and institutional cultural development.  S/he will monitor the progress and quality of works, and offer advice on slope/geotechnical work, ELS and foundation design, on-site problems project planning and implementation; check and coordinate relevant drawings, and supervise contractors and workers to ensure compliance with requirements; coordinate among consultants/contractors, users and in-house units on record maintenance; handle contract administration matters (including project financial issues); oversee tendering exercises for employment of consultants/contractors; ensure rectification of defects be carried out; and perform any other assignments.

Requirements

A good honours degree in Geotechnical Engineering/Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”), and at least 15 years’ relevant experience (of which at least 5 years at senior management level).  Extensive experience in building development and large-scale building project execution in Hong Kong, self-motivation for performance enhancement, proven management and leadership ability to complete tasks within tight project schedules, as well as good analytical and interpersonal skills are required.  Possession of professional qualification of MHKIE/MIGE/MICE and MIStructE, substantial experience in higher educational institutions and/or experience in managing government subvention projects, and ability to use AutoCAD and Revit are preferred. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
