Safety Officer in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/368/09]

 

Duties

  1. Handle all matters related to safety and enforce the University’s safety policies on construction sites;
  2. Conduct risk assessments and regular safety inspections to identify hazards and irregularities;
  3. Devise safety control and preventive measures jointly with project teams;
  4. Investigate accidents and come up with safety improvement actions;
  5. Prepare inspection reports, safety meetings and documentations;
  6. Ensure all safety rules and regulations are observed and complied with;
  7. Enhance safety awareness on site through arranging safety training to workers; and
  8. Perform any other assignments related to health, safety and environment.


Irregular working hours (including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays) may be required.

Requirements

A good honours degree/Higher Diploma in Safety Management/Occupational Health and Safety/Construction Management/Engineering or related disciplines, a registered safety officer (RSO) with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”) or equivalent issued by organisations recognised by the Commissioner for Labour, and at least 2 years’ RSO experience in construction management.  Proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word and Excel); good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility; being self-motivated and attentive to details; and ability to work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required.  Substantial safety work experience in construction sites/education institutions is preferred.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
