Part-time Lecturers in the School of Law (Appointment for 1 to 6 months) [Ref. B/R/748/09]

The School of Law has three goals: becoming a world renowned centre for research and teaching of law; equipping students with global knowledge, skills and perspectives; and establishing a trusted relationship with local and international legal establishments.  These goals are reflected in the composition of the faculty, the curriculum and enrichment activities.  The School has also developed special programmes for judges from Mainland China, including LLM and JSD programmes. These appointments are part of a strategy to enhance the School's research performance.  It has recruited excellent talents at all levels in recent years and these appointments represent a determined effort to increase the size of faculty by recruiting high calibre staff.

It is  the  School's goal  to  provide  quality  legal  education  for  students  and  to  broaden  their horizons.  The School offers a broad range of degree programmes: LLB, JD, LLMArbDR, LLM, JSD and PCLL.

The PCLL programme is a professional training programme required for entry into profession in Hong Kong.  Applications are invited for:

 

Duties

The appointees will be involved in teaching Family Law and Practice and/or Drafting and Advocacy (in Chinese) courses in the PCLL programme.  Duties may be carried out during daytime or in the evening.


Requirements

A good honours degree or an equivalent qualification plus substantial experience as a barrister/solicitor in related disciplines.  Commitment to professional legal education is required.  Teaching experience at tertiary level is preferred.


Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
