Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Statistics in the Department of Management Sciences [Ref. B/886/09]

The Department of Management Sciences is one of the six departments within the University’s College of Business.  At present the Department has a strength of 28 regular faculty with a wide range of research expertise in the fields of Operations Research and Statistics.  In recent years, faculty publications have appeared in a number of flagship journals in the two fields.  The Department offers two undergraduate majors, two taught Master’s programs and a PhD research program.

Duties

Conduct high quality research for scholarly publications, teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervise PhD students. Most undergraduate classes are conducted in the day time, with evening teaching for the taught postgraduate programs.

Requirements

The Department seeks strong candidates in Statistics.  Specialization is open, but preference will be given to those with expertise in big data analytics, business and financial statistics, data-mining, statistics in healthcare management, and survey sampling. Candidates for Associate Professor should possess a PhD in statistics, a substantial publication record in high quality statistics journals or other high quality journals that are known for publishing statistics-discipline related papers, and a dedication to quality teaching with relevant experience. They are expected to provide contribution/leadership in research, plan curriculum of studies and supervise PhD students. Candidates for Assistant Professor should possess a PhD and good potential for publishing in high quality journals.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
