Duties

The University strives to enhance the multilingual ability of its students. In the summer of 2020, the University is establishing the Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre to provide programs and courses, support services and facilities to students at the University. 

The mission of the Centre is to equip students with the academic literacy skills they need to succeed in their education, and with skills in a range of languages in preparation for their participation in the increasingly globalized, fast-changing society, in line with the University’s strategic objective of internationalisation. It aims to enhance multilingualism and multiculturalism amongst students of the University, and to promote and support the learning of different languages for academic, professional, and personal development. The Centre will offer instruction and support in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French and German.

The Head of the Centre will be responsible for providing academic leadership in the planning and development of the Centre’s teaching, learning and assessment processes, and ensuring that the Centre’s educational strategies are aligned with the goals of the University’s Strategic Plan.


Requirements

Candidates are expected to possess a postgraduate degree, preferably a doctorate, with experience in language teaching and educational management.  Candidates should have experience in and qualifications for teaching at least one of the Centre’s languages. Other essential qualities include proven expertise in programme management, financial management and human resource management; familiarity with working practices in language centres in higher educational institutions; an ability to work with stakeholders at all levels within the University; and excellent technology, communication and interpersonal skills.


Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
