The School of Law has three goals: becoming a world renowned centre for research and teaching of law; equipping students with global knowledge, skills and perspectives; and establishing a trusted relationship with local and international legal establishments. These goals are reflected in the composition of the faculty, the curriculum and enrichment activities. The School offers a broad range of degree programmes: LLB, JD, LLMArbDR, LLM and PCLL. It has also developed special programmes for judges from Mainland China, including LLM and JSD programmes.
The School has a strong commitment to common law scholarship and to comparative and international law scholarship, with a special emphasis on Chinese law. The School has also developed expertise in a range of fields including commercial law, environmental law, Hong Kong Basic Law, constitutional law, criminal justice, international trade and investment law, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will provide visionary, strategic leadership for the School, in alignment with the vision, mission and Strategic Plan of the University. In collaboration with the School’s faculty and other academic units, the Dean will advance the School’s academic excellence in research and professional education, and further its international standing.
A doctorate degree with strong academic and professional qualifications, a distinguished record of teaching, research and scholarship, and substantial relevant experience in academic leadership roles; the vision and capability to build on and expand the School’s strengths; outstanding management effectiveness; commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork; and strong communication and networking skills to build and nurture internal and external contacts to the benefit of the School.
The appointee will be offered appointment to an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The deanship appointment will be on a concurrent basis for an initial period of about three years. Remuneration package will be attractive and driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.
