The Housing Authority's Home Ownership Committee today (Thursday) approved the transfer of two rental blocks to the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) for sale to Green Form applicants.

"The decision aims at promoting the growth of home ownership in the community and encouraging better-off tenants to become home owners so that rental units vacated by them can be allocated to families in greater need," the Chairman of the Committee, Ms Leung Wai-tunq, said.

The two rental blocks are Block 3 of Ming Tak Estate in Tseung Kwan O, and Block H of Hing Tung Estate in Shau Kei Wan. Both are Harmony I blocks. The normal flat selection priority amongst Green Form applicants will be adopted.

The two blocks will contain some 290 small flats, each of about 20 square metre saleable floor area.

Because of their relatively small size, the flats will only be sold to households comprising one or two persons.

"Although the flats will be sold only to Green Form applicants, the fact that they are additional ones transferred to the HOS means White Form applicants' chance of buying HOS flats will not be affected," Ms Leung noted.

Unsold flats would be offered for sale in subsequent sale exercises, she added.
