Headline : HA staff trained on fire safety
Content : Despite all the sweating and physical exercise, it was really an experience for the 21 Housing Department Chief Estate Assistants (CEAs) who took part in a one-day fire prevention training course hel d today (Wednesday) at the Fire Services Pat Heung training school.

The 21 housing staff were among the 190 Estate Assistant grade officers selected by the Housing Department to become trainers who will in turn train up their colleagues at the estates on proper handling of a fire in case of an outbreak.

Today's training marked the first in a series in a programme jointly organised with the Fire Services Department. The programme is to be completed by November this year.


"It is expected that at the erd of the training sessions, these officers will have acquired sufficient knowledge to bring back with them to their work place to enable the more speedy and erfective tackling of a fire occurrence for the safety of estate tenants at large," a spokesman fcr the Housing Department said.

It is understood that the Housing Department is working on an educational and publicity package to heighten tne awareness of estate tenants on fire safety.


A major fire preventicn event is also planned for November when the dry season begins.
