The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority :
The Housing Authority's Building Committee today (Thursday) endorsed the proposed client briefs, control plans and project estimates for the public housing developments in Tin Shui Wai Areas 3 30 and 31.
A Housing spokesman said the project in Area 3 comprised 16 Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) blocks providing 6,400 flats, a primary school, two reserved school sites and a commercial/carpark podium. The commercial centre will be located at the eastern boundary of the site and will be linked with the existing Tin Yiu Estate Commercial Centre and bus terminus by footbridges.
The whole development and will be completed between May and August 1999 in five phases.
The project in Area 30 comprises a carpark, a Single Aspect Block and Housing for Senior Citizens providing 504 rental flats, four Harmony Blocks providing 3,064 rental flats and a reserve site for a primary school.
The development is to take place in two phases and will be completed between July and September 1999.
The project in Area 31 comprises 19 HOS blocks providing 5,928 flats, a primary school, a secondary school, a reserve site for a primary school, a commercial centre and a carpark.
The development and will be completed between May and September 1999 in four phases.
The three sites were identified by the Task Force on Land Supply and Property Prices in June last year as one of the measures to cool down property prices, the spokesman said.
Members also endorsed the tender for the construction of two 36-storey New Cruciform Domestic Blocks providing 700 HOS flats for the redevelopment of Tin Wan Estate Phase 2.
Another tender approved was for the foundations work for Small Households Housing at Sheung Shinq Street.
The work comprises the design and construction of piling to foundations to a 16-storey and a 10-storey housing blocks for small households.
In addition, approval was given to tenders for demolition of existing blocks 3, 4 and 5 of Jordan Valley Estate, monitoring of ground anchors and monitoring and maintenance of horizontal drains.
