The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:
The Housing Authority's Building Committee today (Thursday) approved tenders for demolition works for redevelopment of Lei Muk Shue Estate Phase Two and Sau Mau Ping Estate Phase Five.
The demolition for Lei Muk Shue Estate will include two 20-storey former Government Low Cost Housing domestic blocks, one 6-storey school, one storeroom/water meter room, one underground water tank and two electrical substations.
For Sau Mau Ping Estate, the demolition will include existing Blocks 42 to 45, one 6-storey primary school, one restaurant, two electrical substations, one pump house, four markets, two rest gardens and two refuse collection points.
Both contractors would have to complete the work within an 8-month period.
Tenders for foundation works for Sai Wan Ho (Infill Site), redevelopment of Kwai Fong Estate Phase Five, Lei Muk Shue Estate Phase One and Hing Wah Estate Phase One were also endorsed.
The work for Sai Wan Ho (Infill Site) comprises the design and construction of piling to foundations to one 18- storey non-standard housing building for small household.
The foundation work for redevelopment of Kwai Fong Estate Phase Five comprises the design and construction of piling and pilecaps to one 39-storey Harmony 1 block and one 7-storey Flexi-primary school.
The foundation work for redevelopment of Lei Muk Shue Estate Phase One comprises the design and construction of piling, pilecaps and/or footings to one 28-storey truncated Harmony 1 block, one 28-storey Single Aspect block and one single-storey carpark.
The foundation work for redevelopment of Hing Wah Estate Phase One comprises the design and construction of piling, pilecaps and footings to two 39-storey domestic blocks, one 39-storey domestic blocks on a 2-storey semi- submerged commercial centre, one 7-storey carpark, one pedestrian footbridge and one noise barrier wall.
Members also approved tenders for rewiring and reinforcement of electrical installation for three rental blocks at Cheung Shan Estate, replumbing for six blocks at Heng On Estate, and supply and installation of 22 passenger lifts in place of the existing ones at Lek Yuen Estate.
