There are the photos of my accommodation in University of Kent. I live in a 5 Bedroom House located in Park Wood. I have my own room and share the kitchen and toilet with four other housemates. This is a picture of my room. It is such a great room! TComparing to the hall in CityU, this room in Kent provides a lot is providing more facilitates, and spaces, and a wide table for work. There are many drawers that Iyou can store the clothes and necessities. The most important thing is there is a heater in on the room! Although the weather is cold outside, I can still do my work in a comfortable environment. It is thea perfect room I am looking for!
In the house, there are 2 levels. I think everyone living in Hong Kong are happy to live in this kind of house because it is not common. We usually live in a flat. This two-level house will provide you the new and great experience!
This is the shared kitchen in the lower level. I can get all the required facilitate here such as the microwave oven, a huge refrigerator and the big oven. All I need is to prepare the ingredients and start cooking! I usually have dinner with my friends together and the kitchen provide a big table for us!
This is the toilet and bathroom in the house. A small toilet is in the lower level. The sink is too small which is not suitable to use for brushing my teeth or washing my face. It is better to go up to the bathroom at the upper levels. The decoration of the bathroom is great; it looks like a hotel bathroom! One thing I really appreciate is the heater in the bathroom. I The heater keeps the bathroom warm and toasty even in this cold winter. What a great invention!
Chinese New Year is coming! Because I want to explore how the British react to this Chinese traditional festival, I went to the China Town to enjoy and celebrate it. There are lots of people walking in the China Town. You can see the decent decoration which is comparable to what we have in Hong Kong. A lot of people watched the traditional lion dance performance with fascination. Other visitors and local people are enjoying Chinese New Year! What a cultural immersion!
My friends and I also enjoyed hotpot, dim sum and traditional Chinese turnip cake. Don’t worry if you miss Chinese food when you go to the UK for exchange programme. The Chinese food here is awesome and delicious. I have never imagined that I can celebrate the Chinese New Year abroad with the excellent atmosphere and food! While you are exploring British local culture, why not try to discover the other cultures in the UK? It is interesting to see how others react to our traditional culture!
Compared to Hong Kong, there is not that much entertainment in Canterbury. In Hong Kong, I can enjoy sweet soup, sing karaoke, or have hotpot after class. However, Canterbury is a small city and the only entertainment here is drinking, while people study at the University of Kent. K-bar is one of the most famous bars located on campus. It is packed every night because students like to chat and relax here after class. In addition, special events are held there each week. Apart from drinking, you can also play pool, which costs £1 per round. Sports are broadcast on seven screens around the bar. If you are a football fan, then you will love this place. Although there are not many games, I am sure you will enjoy the atmosphere in this place! Every student likes to relax after studying, and K-bar is the place to hang out and chat with other students!
