ACCOMPLISHMENT

A smart home has long been the dream of many people. With the recent development of advanced technologies such as information technology, nanotechnology and biotechnology, people come up with different innovative ideas to change the way of living and improve the quality of life, but how can people make the ideas work? The course will introduce an engineering approach to smart living and inspire students from different academic disciplines to form teams and explore smart ways to use technology in the home. Various applications and features of smart home will be discussed, including home appliance control, health monitoring, energy saving, security and surveillance. Throughout the course, students will learn the basic idea in designing a smart home. Students are encouraged to form teams and work together to come up with a new design of the smart home utilizing new and sustainable technologies that promote smarter living.
