Thermal Energy Storage

Thermal Energy Storage

Description
The thermal storage system is of 1600 Rton-hour which is used to supplement the chiller plant during "on-peak" period (09:00 to 20:59) by discharging the cooling energy stored inside the PCM panels.
The PCM panels are charged up by chilled water which is generated by the chiller plant during the "of-peak" period (21:00 to 09:00). The Max. kVA demand charge in the electricity tariff can be reduced. In addition, energy saving of 116,325 kWh was achieved in year 2010 (equivalent to reduction of carbon emission by planting 2,764 trees) because chiller plant can run more efficiently in off-peak hours.
