The English Language Centre subsidizes qualifying staff who wish to study for advanced diplomas or degrees which are offered by recognized universities worldwide and which are relevant to English language teaching.

Up to HK$21,000 will be provided for each approved programme of study.

Funding up to HK$8,000 may be provided for short courses that do not lead to an advanced degree. Applications are considered on an individual basis.

The ELC also offers support for conference attendance, to a maximum of HK$12,000 for staff who present papers and HK$8,000 for participants.

A maximum of 90% of the total cost of any professional development activity will be reimbursed.

Qualifying staff can obtain leave to attend conferences, courses and workshops, in addition to their annual leave entitlement.
