Organizations

The English Language Centre encourages staff to participate in professional organizations.

Locally,

• The Hong Kong Professional Teachers Union focuses on teachers’ rights and welfare, and organizes courses and workshops for teachers.
• The Hong Kong Association for Self-Access Learning and Development organizes monthly workshops for its members to exchange information about self-access learning and meet other practitioners.
• The Hong Kong Association of Applied Linguistics holds regular meetings to discuss issues of interest to applied linguists in Hong Kong. The group’s website offers conference information and links.
• The Hong Kong Reading Association fosters reading research in the Hong Kong context. The group has a newsletter and organizes workshops, seminars and conferences.
