The
English Language Centre employs about 100 people, including a Head,
six Associate Heads, and some 80 full-time and part-time teaching staff.

Teaching staff are recruited as full-time Instructors or part-time Lecturers.
Full-time staff are assigned 20 teaching hours a week. Their duties include:
Teaching and advising students
Developing courses and materials
Course administration
Informal English enhancement activities
Full-time staff work in Teams and participate in Committees that run the ELC.
Part-time staff are assigned a maximum of 17 teaching hours a week
Qualifications
All
teaching staff must have a first degree and a professional teaching
qualification in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Full-time
staff need a diploma level qualification or above, e.g., a Dip Ed
specializing in TESOL or the Cambridge Dip TEFLA, and a minimum of two
years’ post-qualification teaching experience at secondary level or
above.
Candidates with a basic qualification
such as the Cambridge Certificate in TEFLA or the Trinity House
Certificate in TEFLA, or with less than two years’ teaching experience,
may be considered for part-time positions.
Part-time staff must have the right to work in Hong Kong. The ELC cannot obtain working visas for part-time staff.
