Bachelor’s degree students who
do not qualify for exemption from ELC courses must take two core
University English courses and three credits of University English
electives.
Associate degree students in
the Division of Building Science and Technology (BST), the School of
Law (SLW) and the School of Creative Media (SCM) who do not qualify for
exemption from ELC courses must take three ELC core courses.
BST
and SLW associate degree students must also take three credits of
University English electives. SCM associate degree students do not take
any other ELC courses.
Community College students who do not qualify for exemption from ELC courses must take one ELC course.

English for Professional Communication
Linguistics and Language Technology
Translation and Interpretation
Associate degree programmes in
Bilingual Communication Studies
Students
who do not meet the English attainment requirement on entry to the
above programmes must pass the exams for required ELC courses but they
do not have to take the courses. Simply passing an exam does not earn
credit.
Other Courses
The
ELC also provides Foundation English courses for mainland secondary
school graduates in the University’s foundation year programme, and
courses as requested for selected groups, including research
postgraduate students. |
