The
English Language Centre uses student and teacher feedback to constantly
evaluate and improve the quality of its courses and teaching. One
course is usually singled out for special attention each semester, with
focus groups providing added feedback for course reviews.
End-of-Course Evaluations
Students
are asked to complete an online evaluation form at the end of every
course. The forms have boxes to be filled in and room for comments
about the course and the teacher.
Students are not required to put their names or student ID numbers on the forms.
Students’
comments and suggestions on the evaluation forms, in person and by
email are taken into account when courses are revised and when
teachers’ contracts come up for renewal.
Teachers also use student comments to improve their teaching. ELC teachers are generally highly rated by students.
ELC Course Committee
The
ELC Course Committee has one staff and one student member nominated by
each faculty, school, the Community College and the Division of
Building Science and Technology.
Students or
staff who wish to make their views known without contacting the ELC
directly can ask their representatives to speak for them.
