Staff Development

The Education Development Office (EDO) is responsible for the professional development of academic staff, and works with staff and students to develop an effective pedagogy to enhance student learning. EDO provides support and resources to further the development and enhancement of teaching and learning at CityU.

Outcomes Based Teaching & Learning

CityU’s OBTL website from the office of the Vice President Undergraduate Education is an excellent resource for all staff and students on OBTL and the OBTL implementation process at CityU. It has a wealth of resources on how to implement OBTL and the implementation process. [ Read more ]

Teaching Development Projects

The Teaching Development Grant (TDG) is an initiative of the University Grants Committee (UGC) that provides funding to support innovation in teaching and learning in tertiary institutions. The Teaching Development Grant (TDG) at CityU aims to support academic colleagues on pedagogical initiatives within the curriculum that enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

Since 2005, a total of close to HK$21 million have been allocated to CityU supporting over 80 projects over the years. [ Read more ]

Strategic Teaching Enhancement Programme (STEP)

EDO has developed STEP to assist new and experienced academic staff to adapt to the changing nature of the environment in which they work, and incorporates significant learning opportunities in relation to OBTL and e-learning, as well as maintaining the focus on understanding how our students learn, assessing the strengths and weaknesses in their learning strategies, and providing resources and academic support to enable students to take proactive action to better manage their own learning. STEP consists of 10 related sessions where participants are engaged in a range of interactive activities.
