About me

I am the current Programme Leader for the MSc Environmental Science and Technology degree.  In addition to teaching in the MSc programme, I am the course leader for the undergraduate courses on Marine Biology, Environmental Conservation and Resources Management, and Environmental Impact Assessment.

My teaching philosophy

It boils down to CARE for our students.

Commitment – I believe that dedication to student learning is not only confined to lectures/tutorials, but also outside the classroom.

Adaptation – I believe that not two cohorts of students are alike. I have to adapt my teaching strategies to maximize their learning.

Reflection – I believe that listening to the students and talking to colleagues will help me think about what can be improved in my teaching.

Empathy – I believe that we should have compassion for the students, understanding their need and/or the dilemma in their learning

Particular teaching experiences and strategies to share:
The Project-Based Mentoring Scheme (PBMS) to Enhance Student Learning – the scheme provides an opportunity for students to learn in a relaxing environment, with an aim to developing their interest and motivation in the pursuit of knowledge in various topics of Biology and Environmental Sciences.

Special thanks

I would like to thank colleagues in BCH who have shared with me their experience in teaching, which always makes me reflect and improve my own.
