    Dr Iris Ong Ai Choo is an associate professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education where she leads the Outcomes Based Unit. Her teaching and research interests are critical thinking, social emotional learning, and parenting behaviours that influence adolescents' academic and pyschosocial adjustments. She is co-editor of the book "Teaching Strategies that Promote Thinking". She is the developer of the programme, "The Creative Learner," which is used by IPT-PSB Academy to train workers in lifelong learning and creative thinking and problem solving.

Abstract

This session will introduce us to what critical thinking is and the various dimensions of critical thinking. Specific topics include standards for higher order thinking, use of active learning strategies to promote critical thinking. It will also share ways to assess thinking and learning in the classroom.
