Cyperport Creative Micro Fund 5pm 10 Oct 2014 The Cyberport Creative Micro Fund aims to sponsor high potential creative and innovative ICT-related startup projects or ideas a seed fund of HK$100,000 (in cash) for proof of concepts and developing prototypes. 

Empowering YoungEntrepreneurs Program (EYE Program) Closed this year "Empowering Young Entrepreneurs Program (EYE Program)" is organized by the Centre of entrepreneurship of CUHK with thepartnership of Google. This one-year program is consisted of 2 parts: Cross-Disciplinary Entrepreneurial Training andmentorship program. On the completion of the mentorship training and pitching, outstanding program participants will besponsored to visit Google’s headquarters in Mountain View to connect with the global community of entrepreneurs andinvestors. This program will also help young entrepreneurs overcoming the startup costs.

Hong Kong Social Enterprises Challenge 30 Oct 2014 The Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC), a social venture business plan competition organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (link is external), has been at the frontier in educating students and the general public about social enterprises in Hong Kong. Through a structured competition model, HKSEC encourages students to employ a creative entrepreneurial approach to solve real world social issues.

iStartup@HK Video-pitch Contest 20 Oct 2014 iStartup@HK Video-pitch Contest aims to encourage young entrepreneurs to express their creativity and ideas via a 2minute video-pitch. In the video, contestants are expected to introduce their company profile or products to raise fundsfrom investors. Champion: $20,000 Cash award. Top 3 winners will be invited to an interview with the Cyberport CreativeMicro Fund (CCMF) judging panel, potentially winning a HK$100,000.

StartmeupHK Venture Programme Closed This programme is organized by InvestHK with the collaboration with Hong Kong Cyperport and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. There are two categories: Early to growth stage (ventures with revenue and/or significant users/customers) and Startups at the concept and prototype stage (with no revenue).

The Hong Kong ICT Awards 16 Jan 2015 (Tentative) Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015 comprises the following 10 categories: Best Business Solution Award , Best Digital Entertainment Award, Best Digital Inclusion Award, Best ICT Startup Award, Best Innovation Award, Best Lifestyle Award, Best Mobile Apps Award, Best Smart Hong Kong Award, Best SME ICT Award and Best Student Invention Award. Enrollment will tentatively start on 3 November 2014.

OzAPP Awards 5 Dec 2014 The OzAPP Awards is the Asia Pacific region's innovative app startup competition organized by Curtin University andGlobal startup investor, Bill Tai. Application must describe a mobile, web or cloud software application. The $100,000Qualcomm Prize will be offered. There is a roadshow at Baptist University of Hong Kong on 17 October 2014. YDC E-Challenge Closed This local competition is organized by the Young Entrepreneur Development Council. It is open to all students (undergraduates, postgraduates, research students and international exchange students in Hong Kong ) studying full time in tertiary education institutes in Hong Kong.  The organizer will have a series of workshops, networking sessions and mentoring programs designed to bolster skills, temper the mindset and get the entrepreneurial spirit flowing.

Go Green in the City 1 Feb 2015 The fifth edition of the global business case challenge ‘Go Green in the City’ is organized by Schneider Electric. Participants can share their efficient energy management ideas. The top 12 teams will be invited to Paris in June, 2015 for the final presentation. The winning team will get a trip around the world, stopping at two Schneider Electric offices along the way, and a career opportunity at Schneider Electric. All students are invited to join in teams of two.

Microsoft Imagine Cup Open for registration The Imagine Cup is comprised of three competitions: Game Competition, Innovation Competition and Global Citizenship Competition. The object of this competition is to create innovative and original software applications. It is open to students around the world.

Shell Ideas360 2014 1 Dec 2014 Shell Ideas360 is a global ideas competition organized by Shell International Limited. It enables students to develop game-changing ideas to lessen the pressure on the world’s food, water and energy resources. Participants might have a chance to collaborate and interact with Shell mentors and experts. All participants will be awarded a 3-month subscription to WIRED’s interactive digital edition. The finalists will have a trip to the Netherlands for the final presentation and compete for a National Geographic Adventure and a trophy. All full time or part time undergraduate or post graduate are welcome to join.

Venture Labs Investment Competition 20 Feb 2015 The Global Venture Labs Investment Competition is the premier world-wide investment competition. It allows graduate students to gain real experience while developing and growing new ventures based on their own ideas and technologies.  Teams from around the world are welcomed to compete. Application will be open in Oct 2014.

Global Social Venture Competition 5 Dec 2014 GSVC is a global social entrepreneurship competition.  It will provide US$50,000 in prizes to transfor your ideas into businesses.  Business plan must include a financial analysis as well as a Social Impact Assessment (SIA). Each team must include an actively involved graduate student in any area of study in the world who must be one of the plan’s presenters in the final round of the competition.

Rice University Business Plan Competition Closed This competition has been the Top Ten Best U.S. Graduate Entrepreneurship Program since 2009. This graduate-level student startup competition is open to teams from all universities.
