Abstract

This project is designed to institutionalise the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) to ensure that value is demonstrably added to the student learning experience at City University of Hong Kong. It is important that LASSI be institutionalised in order to:

  • Ensure that both students and staff will understand and make use of data from LASSI to improve student learning.
  • Ensure that we can demonstrate the 'value-addedness' in our education in order to secure UGC funding.

In addition to institutionalizing data collection and analysis procedures, this project will provide:

1. Help for teachers
Teachers need to be aware of how LASSI data can inform their student’s development and understand what they can do to help the students. EDO will devise training to introduce the use of LASSI to the teachers.

2. Help for students
ALSS and Master My Success (MMS) programmes will be re-packaged to target the ten LASSI elements more directly. The aim is to make it easy for students and teachers to know which workshops to take to help students with their weak elements. This part will involve EDO working closely with SDS.
