Access to key law Databases using iPads

  • User can use the default browser “Safari” to access databases through CityU library.
  • User needs to set “Always Accept Cookies” configuration in Safari.

Pedagogy of mobile learning in Law School

  • Queen Mary, University of London: Turn basic law lecture content into podcasts which students could listen to before class and take necessary notes. Lecturer then uses class time for explanatory information, allowing more time for interactive teaching and learning activities.
  • Open University Malaysia: Company Law Professors use SMS tutoring in the course.  It is based on the short messaging system (SMS) technology to deliver the messages to the learners.  Message comprises of 5 categories: Content, Forum, Tips, Motivation, & Course Management. Objectives were to:
  • UK Centre for Legal Education (UKCLE): The College of Law’s initiatives on e-learning consist of computer-assisted learning exercises and discussion groups, both supported by the Blackboard learning management system. The computer-assisted learning exercises support student study outside the classroom sessions, while the discussion groups enable students to collaborate on assignments.  Both aim to establish a platform from which workshops can work more successfully, to add variety and flexibility to student study and to improve the quality and consistency of their preparation for classroom sessions, with a view to improving their classroom experience.

On-line assessment solution

It is an online assignment and learning system, teachers can use the system to conduct formative assessment in-class using mobile device or for students to self-assess their progress.
