The Division of Social Studies aspires to produce graduates who possess broad-based knowledge in the domains of social
science, communication skills, analytic and problem-solving abilities, global vision, cultural sensitivity and competence
for lifelong learning on top of the discipline-specific attitude, knowledge and skills pertinent to their repective programme
of studies. It places dual emphasis upon formal curriculum and out-of-classroom activities, and adopts a teaching and
learning approach that is student-directed and integrates knowing, thinking, feeling and acting.

The Division has 44 full-time faculty members, all holding at least one Master's degree. Over 50% are either doctoral
degree holders or PhD candidates.
