CSIE will join as the hosting organization of The 8th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management(2013) & The 3rd International Conference on Utility Management & Safety(2013). WCEAM attracts eminent academic, industry practitioners and research scientists from around the world. The 59th World Statistics Congress (WSC) organized by the International Statistical Institute (ISI) will be held in Hong Kong during 25-30 August 2013. The 59th WSC provides a platform for the international statistical community to share and present the latest knowledge and innovation in statistics. The scientific programme encompasses a wide range of topics facilitating professional exchanges and sharing amongst experts and practitioners in various statistical spheres. The Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM) and CSIE would like to take this opportunity to organize the ISI Satellite Meeting prior to the WSC.
The ISI Satellite Meeting will take place in City University of Hong Kong during 23-24 August 2013, prior to the WSC. The theme of this Satellite Meeting will be on Statistics in Business, Industry and Risk Management.
The Spring Research Conference on Systems Engineering and Management Science 2013(SRC-SEMS’13) aims to provide a research platform for academics and researchers, particularly young faculty and graduate students, in the Greater China region and neighboring areas to share and exchange experiences and research findings in various disciplines of Systems Engineering and Management Science.

The Centre for Systems Informatics Engineering(CSIE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) participated in Expanding Sphere of Innovation@CityU at Academic Building 3 from 7-10 May 2013. It is an event for research centres and the Knowledge Transfer Office to showcase CityU’s research excellence and development to honorary guests, the general public and industries.
The Centre for System Informatics Engineering (CSIE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) received a generous donation of 20 sets of the LabVIEW Core Development software package and its associated toolkits from National Instruments Corporation (National Instruments). The donated software, with a total value of HK$2.3 million, had been installed in the CSIE laboratory and was widely used by students of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management for academic and research purposes.
2012 was a fruitful year for CityU CSIE Centre, in which it acquired research funding and research outputs and organized a successful international conference. CityU CSIE Centre organized the 2nd International Conference on Mass Transit Rail Facilities Design and Management on 3 December 2012 at City University of Hong Kong. This conference aimed at providing a platform for researchers, managers and engineers, including representatives from MTR Corporation, Norfolk Southern Corporation, University of Illinois Rail Transportation and Engineering Center, University of California Berkeley, and Northeastern University to exchange the latest research results, advanced technology and engineering experiences relating to subway/mass transit rail services worldwide, with a focus on stations and associated structures design, passenger flow, fire safety/security engineering, signal and information controls, video surveillance, and potential risk analysis and management.
