Yes! It's here! Following the launch of the desktop
video conferencing system (Intel ProShare VS200) in June this
year, another fantastic video conferencing system was installed
in Room Lesath with effort contributed by the MMIT Project Management
Group. So, what exactly is the system and how fascinating is
it?
It is a room video conferencing system, Concorde
4500 by PictureTel. It provides exceptional audio quality. As
compared to the desktop video conferencing system which operates
at about 10-15 frames/second, Concorde 4500 offers precise, natural-looking
on-screen motion with 30 frames/second running H.320 at a maximum
data transmission rate of 384Kbps over ISDN line. You can now
enjoy video and audio quality comparable to that of movie pictures.
To meet the growing demands of conveying information and messages,
it is definitely an ideal tool for organizing seminars across
overseas/local institutions and distant learning courses, or facilitating
collaboration among university students/researchers.
The system includes a wireless keypad for unconstrained
system control and Look-At-Me-Buttons to keep the meeting flow
natural and to facilitate highly interactive and multi-faceted
meetings. It is highly mobile as all the peripherals, display
and speaker system are integrated within an argonmically-designed
cart. For smaller scale meeting, it can be transferred to our
Room Neptune which has ISDN lines installed as well. With the
introduction of the LimeLight dynamic speaker locating technology
at the end of this year, group video conferencing is even easier,
more natural and more spontaneous than ever by automatically locating
and framing speaking participants anywhere in the room.
So, come and experience the system yourself.
Booking of Room Lesath can be done via the Terminal Booking System.
Detailed arrangements can be made through ext. 8848 or ext.
8452. To reserve Room Neptune, please contact us at ext. 8261.
Users must be aware that a video conferencing session usually
requires a trial run before the event actually takes place.
