Do you have
an urge to find
out the latest trend in computing technology? If so, you should
go to our series of CSC Forum which is held every other week of
each semester. Specialists from notable industry leaders such
as SUN Microsystems, Intel, SGI and Microsoft are invited to
give presentations of maximum academic value on today's most talked-about
computing subjects. These seminars are open to both staff and
students. As enrolment is not required, seats are available on
a first-come-first-served basis. Last year we have had very successful
runs on the following topics:
Title | Presented by | No. of Attendees |
Intel Pentium(R) Pro Architecture | Intel | 160 |
Microsoft Windows 95 & Office 95: A New Era for Personal Computing | Microsoft | 150 |
Chinese Computing | Microsoft | 115 |
Computer Simulation and Virtual Reality | TechTrend | 83 |
Doing Business on Internet | Linkage Online | 64 |
High Speed Networking | 3-COM | 54 |
Some of the above topics were so hot that the number
of audience exceeded the seating capacity of the room. For example,
in order to cater for those who did not get a seat in the Pentium(R)
Pro seminar, we invited the speaker to present again for the second
time during the same academic year. If you would like to have
a re-run of a particular topic or suggest some new topics for
the forthcoming series of CSC Forums, please feel free to contact
us at ext. 9834. We shall try our best to fit them into our schedule.
This year, we have selected a variety of topics like
Hot Java, electronic commerce on Internet, data analysis with
SPSS 7.0 for Windows 95, Intranet, video-on-demand, supercomputing,
the roadmap of Intel's processor chips, web authoring and many
more. Watch out for our announcements by network messages, CSC
News and posters on campus. Hope to see you all there.
