CityComp'96

Horizontal Rule [SEPT 96]

Jaime Poon

What did a H.K. secondary school student do in this hot, long summer holiday? To 54 of them, they joined the 3-day computer conference at the City University - the CityComp'96 programme. Let's see how they felt upon completion of the programme:

"This is the second time I'd joined CityComp. I liked last year's experience, so I decided to join again. The instructors explained things clearly that made computer learning much easier."

"I think that the programme design was very good. Two courses ran in parallel to give participants choices, so I could choose my interested ones to attend."

"This programme really exposed me to new computer technology. It differed much from other commercial computer courses or programmes which may stick to a particular software application or an operating system. And the programme's content was so rich that it's sometimes a bit too compressed."

As revealed from their questionnaires, many participants considered the programme enriched their computer knowledge. More than two-third of them would consider to join this programme again next year. Many demanded the programme to extend longer.

Then, how did those CSC staff feel? Let's see what they said:

"Though the preparation work for the programme was an additional burden to my regular job duties, I liked CityComp because I truly felt that students benefitted from the programme."

"I think that CityComp is a very good programme. Students nowadays are lucky that they have the chance to expose themselves to the latest computer technology which I could not even dare to dream of in my school time."

All comments suggested that CityComp'96 is another year of success like the last three years. But what's new this year? See below:

Now, CityComp'96 is over, but a new problem that is emerging CSC staff's mind is how we can make CityComp'97 even more successful.
