WordProcessor Users' Group

 

After a long summer break, the WordProcessor Users' Group resumed its activities in the new academic year.

Much has been changed in the format of our Users' Group. Firstly, we now meet once a month instead of once every two months. Secondly, we have more than one speakers who share with us their experience in most meetings instead of just one speaker. Thirdly, instead of focusing on WordPerfect, we now include many topics and discussions on Word for Windows too.

In order to cater for the needs of different groups of wordprocessor users, four sessions were held in each of our meetings. They are:

• Trick of the Day:
  Small tricks that may ease daily routine work.
• Hot-Line FAQs:
  Hot-Line supporting staff share common mistakes and hints in using wordprocessors.
• Open Forum:
  Users raise questions and describe problems they encounter in their work and share their own precious experience with the others.
• Technical Corner:
  Guest speaker discusses with the rest of the group on a chosen topic in wordprocessors.

Up to now, we have already met six times with an average attendance of 25 users. We all felt benefited from each of these group meetings and enjoyed the casual atmosphere in which we can participate and ask questions freely. Some of the topics we have discussed so far are Sorting, Adding a signature, Calender Expert, Make it fit Expert, Spell Checking, The Use of Tables, Macro, Name Card Printing and Organization Chart.

In the coming meetings, we shall cover more interesting topics such as Style and Bookmark, Envelope, sub-documents and merge print. We hope that you will join us in these meetings so that we can all learn to use wordprocessors more effectively.
