In September, staff of this university can enjoy Internet access at home. The Computing Services Centre is in the process of setting up and testing a number of Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) servers. Additional telephone lines and modems have been installed to support dial-up access to these servers. Staff are required to acquire some kind of Internet access software (Trumpet Winsock, OS/2 Warp, Windows95, Windows/NT , etc.) for their home PC in order to support dial-up PPP connections. Once connected, their home PC will become part of the Internet and hence have access to all kinds of services on the network. When more communication lines become available hopefully in November, students can have the same service too.
