Phasing Out of SPSS 4.1 and Lisrel 7 for OpenVMS

The Windows versions of SPSS and Lisrel have become popular in recent years. According to our usage statistics, utilisation of the OpenVMS versions of these two software packages has been very low for years. Currently, the SPSS Inc. is testing the OpenVMS version for y2k compliance and whether it is y2k compliant is still unknown. Unfortunately, the company has announced that any problems found will not be fixed (http://www.spss.com/y2k/vms.htm). In addition, when comparing with the Windows version of SPSS, this software is much more expensive while its user interface is far from user-friendly. We consider, therefore, it is not cost effective to continue the subscription of the software on OpenVMS and we will be going to phase out the software by the end of this academic year. Since Lisrel 7 is integrated with SPSS for OpenVMS, it will also be phased out.
