Let’s Have Small Talks!

After a short break, it was time to organise Small Talks for the new Semester. Unlike seminars given by outsiders, these talks are held in a casual manner by our CSC colleagues in order to give everyone a chance to unravel some of their concerns about the CSC Facilities and Services as well as to better prepare themselves in the ever-changing technology world. Last semester, Internet-related topics like "Searching the CityU Web & Web Filtering", "Tips for CityLink Plus Users", "Putting up your University Personal Homepage" and "Using the CityU FTP Server" attracted a good number of audience. This semester, we would like to cover a wider scope of services. In our most recent talk, we had introduced our newly merged unit known as the Media Production Service (MPS). The services provided by MPS were presented and discussed. Another topic that is also worth noting is "Tips in Using Eudora". Although Eudora Pro has been adopted as the university-wide e-mail standard, there are still users who are not using Eudora in the most effective way. By organising a Small Talk on the subject, users will be able to read and write Chinese e-mail; make use of the mailing list generator, the directory service and the Eudora address book; understand the issues relating to the sending/receiving of large e-mail and many more. Other hot topics like "Chinese Applications in E-mail, Web and Word Processing", "The Implications of Freezing DOS and Win 3.11" and "Wireless LAN" have also been arranged.

The Talks are free, all staff are welcome and enrolment is not required.
