CityLink Plus for CityU Alumni

Horizontal Rule [Jun 98]

Annie Yu

In order to strengthen the ties between the University and its graduates, Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) and the Computing Services Centre (CSC) jointly offered the "CityLink Plus for CityU Alumni" service. The main objective is to make use of the modern electronic communication means, such as Web pages and email, to keep in close contact with graduates who subscribe to the service. Services provided under CityLink Plus include:

  • Internet access including email, World Wide Web, Usenet News, Telnet and File Transfer
  • Personal Homepage
  • Dial-up connection via Point-to-Point Protocol
  • High-speed 33.6 Kbps modem for dial-up connection

Each subscriber will be allocated a maximum of 30 hours of connection time per month and 10 MB of disk space for email and personal homepage storage. The subscriber's user account for the service will be his/her 8-digit CityU student identification number. In order to make the user's email address more personal and easy to remember, the subscriber can select an alias name of his/her own choice as long as it is not used by another subscriber. This is made possible by a facility known as "Select Personal Email Name for CityU Alumni" available at the University's web site.
