you switched on the computer in the morning? Never again, as the situation is relieved with the new arrangement in place.
To give the University messages a better structure ,a new display sequence has been adopted as follows: |
1. Today's Event | - | Showing the events held on that day |
2. News and Announcement | - | Displaying announcements of interest to the CityU Staff |
3. Conference, Seminar and Course | - | Displaying conferences, seminars and courses to be held soon |
4. Today's Press Clippings | - | Showing daily press clippings summary concerning CityU and the academic sector |
5. Faculty/College Message (if any) | - | Displaying messages concerning faculty/college |
6. Departmental Message (if any) | - | Displaying messages concerning department |
7. Departmental Staff Leave Status (if any) | - | Leave information of staff |
8. Disk Quota Exceeded (if any) (Personal Email / OpenVMS Account) | - | Displaying (within the department only) the names of the accounts that exceed the disk quota |

On top of that, a revised scheme has been devised to help alleviate the congestion and simplify the administration involved. The major points are:
1. | Normal posting period is shortened to 3 days. |
2. | Message content should be within 1 screen-page. |
3. | If by e-mail, eligible users should send a message to "cnetmsg" (instead of cc@plink.cityu.edu.hk). |
4. | University message should serve as a reminder only and the content must be as concise as possible. Details of the message should be put at proper places (eg. Bulletin Board in PolyLink, Web etc.) |
