Q. I know I can create program shortcuts to my Start menu, but how?

A. To quickly add a shortcut to the top layer of the Start menu, drag the program icon from an open folder or from the explorer onto the Start button. It will be placed on the top of the Start menu.

Q. If I have lots of windows opened, what is the best way to gain quick access to the desktop?

A. You can get quick access to the desktop by right-clicking on the task bar and choosing Minimize All Windows. After you have completed the task you want to perform, you can restore all the windows to their original state by again right-clicking on the task bar and choosing Undo Minimize all.

Q. How can I delete files/folders immediately?

A. You can immediately delete Files/Folders by holding the SHIFT key and hitting the DEL key; or by holding the SHIFT key and dragging the file/folder to the Recycle Bin.

Q. Tell me a little bit more about techniques in dragging and dropping files!

A. Drag and drop files or desktop objects with the RIGHT mouse button instead of the LEFT, and when you drop them on the target, you get a little pop-up menu giving you the following options: Move Here, Copy Here, Create Shortcut Here. Also, to drag a file from one folder to another using only one explorer window, drag the icon near the top or bottom of a scrolling pane, and "nudge" to scroll. Use the RIGHT Mouse Button and the SHIFT key. Windows 95 uses the RIGHT mouse button for many functions. In addition, the SHIFT and CTRL keys often add powerful features to a mouse click.

Q. What is the special function of the ALT key?

A. To quickly get the properties of any file, double-click on it while holding the ALT key. Alternatively, hold the ALT key while pressing the ENTER key.

Q. Is it possible to define more than one connection for a Dial-up Networking client?

A. Yes! You can define multiple connections for a Dial-up Networking client. Click on the "Make New Connection" icon, and follow the New Connection Wizard’s prompts to step through the process (Please visit our Web site at http://www.cityu.edu.hk/csc/dialup/ for details). Multiple connections come in handy if you need to connect at different speeds or use different modems for different connections.
