Which User's Group? - Windows 95

Horizontal Rule [Sept 97]

Joe Chow

With the campus-wide release of Windows 95, there is a rapid growth in the population of Windows 95 users which indicates our users' general acceptance of the new technology. Amongst these users, from novice to expert, many of them are willing to share their experience with others and/or learn from listening to other people's advice. In view of this, the Computing Services Centre (CSC) has taken the initiative to form the Windows 95 User's Group. There are a few objectives to be achieved in the establishment of the user's group. Firstly, the group will provide an opportunity for exchanging precious experience and help our users explore the many powerful features of Windows 95. Secondly, it will promote the usage of Windows 95 which is one of the true multi-tasking systems. With Windows 95, users are able to perform more than one task at a time, hence productivity can be increased. Last but not the least, it will act as a channel for collecting feedback on our customized environment in order to help us serve our users better.

About the User's Group

The group is divided into two subgroups to allow users to communicate more comfortably and effectively. One group is for Cantonese-speaking users and the other for the English-speaking ones. Meetings with the two groups will be held separately from time to time on a regular basis. On July 30th, the first meetings of the two subgroups were held within the same day. In the meetings, some useful tips on how to optimize Windows 95 performance were discussed. Doesn't it sound like something you should not miss? In fact, every university staff is welcome to participate in any one of the meetings. However, priority will be given to those who have registered as a member of the user's group. Meeting schedule will be posted on the University Network Message Board. Registered members will be informed individually about the activities through email.
