Free CityLink Plus for all Students

Horizontal Rule [Sept 97]

Angela Tang

The CityLink Plus service has been proved to be a very convenient way to connect to the Internet from off-campus. Even staying at home, with a PC and a modem for dialling up to the CityLink Plus service, one may browse web pages, use Eudora or mail programs alike to read and send electronic mail, download programs/files, and remote login to various host computers.

To let our students get familiar with, explore and make more use of the Internet, the CityLink Plus service is now offered to all students without prior registrations. Students may use their UNIX account username/password to login the service. There will be budget for 10 free connection hours granted every month.

The CityLink Plus User's Guide, for sale at the Computer Shop, details the set-up procedure on home PC for using the service. For the budget and sponsorship schemes, user may refer to messages posted on bulletin board "CSC Facilities & Services" of PolyLink.
