In order to improve the support quality of CSC and to enhance the communication between CSC and departments, dedicated staff have been assigned to look after the computer requirements of each department. An article titled "Closer Ties with Users" will present a deeper look in the next issue of Network Computing (NC).
Campus Network Upgrade
Millions of dollars have been granted for the network upgrade project. This summer, the campus network will undergo a major upgrade exercise. Details of which will be shown in the September issue of NC.
Improvements in Lecture Theatres
By the beginning of Semester A, vast improvements would have been made in most of CityU's lecture theatres. To find out what they are, stay tuned for the coming issue of NC on "Improvements in Lecture Theatres".
Revamped Hotline Service
The Hotline Service is one of the most important services in CSC. A task force was set up early this year to review the existing procedures and to suggest ways of smoothing the problem-solving process. Details on how the new method is implemented will also be covered in the next issue of NC.
The CityU Intranet
Soon there will be two CityU's home pages, one developed for accessing Intranet and the other for the Internet. The Intranet is currently under development. In the September issue of NC, we shall take a closer look at the overall plan on the development of CityU's Intranet and its most current progress.
The User Satisfaction Survey
Its findings will be reported on subsequent issues of NC.
Benchmarking exercise
Like other servicing departments in CityU, the CSC had spent considerable time and effort on identifying processes and setting up measuring standards for improving the existing processes. Details of which will be described in later issues of NC.
The Information Services Advisory Committee
Following the re-organization of committee structures, a new committee was formed to act as an advisory body to all servicing departments. Subsequent issues of NC will cover some of its future requirements and expectations from the CSC.
