Staff Computer Courses

Horizontal Rule Issue Date

The Computer Centre offers a series of computer courses and seminars to all staff of the Polytechnic as part of the staff development program. These courses and seminars focus on the use of operating systems of various computer systems, office automation software, programming languages, statistical analysis tools, application packages and other utilities which are useful to staff in their teaching, research, and administrative activities.

Course materials are usually designed, prepared and taught by CC staff to meet the general needs of staff. From time to time, CC will appoint external specialists to lecture on particular courses.

Courses are logically divided into eight categories according to the nature or area of applications. These courses are often organized into one or two sessions with durations varying from 1 to 3 hours per session. Each session contains lecture and practical exercises. Course description and schedule for the current academic year are printed in the booklet Computer Courses 94/95.

During the 93/94 academic year, twenty courses were repeatedly offered. The total number of participants reached around 1,600, showing that the courses were well-accepted by staff members of CPHK.
