CityLink upgraded to 14400bps

 

The CityLink service facilitates the remote access to the City Polytechnic campus network which has more than 2500 registered users including staff and students. In August, the installation of our own modem pool has been completed. 72 modems of the pool are provided to support incoming connections at the moment. All the modems support Bell 103, Bell 212A, CCITT V.22 & V.22bis, CCITT V.32 & V.32bis, CCITT V.42 & V.42bis and MNP 2-5. They are all connected to terminal server ports which can support incoming connections with speeds from 300 to 19200 bps. The maximum speed is therefore 8 times faster than the speed of our previously subscribed Dial Link services which support 2400 bps only.

Not only the speed is much faster, but also the connection should be more reliable for we can monitor and manage our modem pool and we do not have to worry about network congestions any more.
