What are the Advanced Features available in M365?

The CityU Microsoft 365 (M365), powered by Microsoft 365 for Education using Microsoft Cloud-based service, is more than an E-mail system. It is an enhanced, integrated and unified messaging system providing E-mail, Calendar, Scheduling, Contacts (Address Books), Tasks, Notes, etc. on an integrated and unified platform. All those data and services can easily be accessed anywhere through the web with Outlook Web Access (OWA), or using popular E-mail software, especially Microsoft Office Outlook, or popular Mobile devices.

You can enjoy the following new and advanced features in M365:

  • Have as large as 100 Gigabytes (GB)/50 Gigabytes (GB) mailbox quota for students/alumni M365 accounts respectively

  • Access your latest email, calendars and contacts from anywhere with your PC, Mac, web browser, Windows Phone, iPhone, Android phone, Symbian phone, and BlackBerry

  • Customize Automatic Replies and Inbox Rules in your account

  • Share your calendar with others

  • Choose how you want to view email and calendars

  • Wipe data from your mobile device to prevent unauthorized access if you lost your phone

The M365 Outlook Web App (OWA) function provides a rich Outlook-like web interface for users to access their M365 accounts from any Internet connected computer with most popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari or FireFox, under a secure (SSL encrypted) connection. Features available in Outlook Web App includes:

  • Access all your mail folders, calendar, contact lists, and task

  • Schedule Automatic Reply messages and send to internal and/or external recipients

  • Enable and control Automatic Calendar Processing with Scheduling Assistant

  • Use Web Ready Document Viewing to read attachments (e.g. MS Word document) in HTML even if the application that created the document is not installed locally

  • Edit and manage Server-side Rules (Inbox Rules)

  • Enable and configure Junk E-mail Filter, Safe Sender and Block Sender List

Microsoft ActiveSync technology enables mobile device users to access/synchronize their E-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks stored in their M365 mailboxes, and to continue to be able to access this information while they are working offline or during a trip.
