The use of the Email services is governed by the University's "Policy on Use of IT Services and Facilities", "Regulations on IT Services and Facilities (2): Campus IT Network", and "Regulations on IT Services and Facilities (1): CityU Electronic Mail" approved by the Committee on Information Services and Technology on 16 April 2007.
The CityU provides 3 kinds of Email services for our users, namely the University Email, Google Apps Education Edition and Microsoft Live @ edu:
The University Email service is the official email service provided by the University to all CityU staff, students and alumni. Accounts are automatically generated for them. All official Email communication of the University will be made through this account.
Google Apps Education Edition (GApps) hosted by Google is a suite of integrated communication & collaboration applications designed for university use. The email service of GApps with domain name "@GApps.cityu.edu.hk" is considered as a complement of the University Email service. The following is a summary of the functions and features of GApps:
About Google Apps Education Edition
Microsoft Live @ edu service (MSLive) is an optional service hosted by Microsoft for enhancing university staff's and students' personal messaging, social networking and collaboration experiences. Like Google Apps Education Edition (GApps), it is offered as an optional service for staff and students and the domain name will be in the form of '@mslive.cityu.edu.hk'. The following is a summary of the functions and features of MSLive:
Please note that all official correspondence from the University will be sent to your University Email account only. The GApps and the MSLive Email accounts are provided for non-commercial personal use. You may forward your mail to the latter two accounts at your own discretion while taking note of protecting sensitive information.
