The printing facilities set up in the CSC Terminal Area are solely for your academic work. You should print only materials directly related to your course work and those pages that are really needed. As a responsible user, you can help us reduce waste in many ways and some useful hints are shown below.
The laser printers installed inside the CSC Terminal Area are capable of printing in duplex mode. When you print, you can click on the Properties option and enable Print on Both Sides to save paper.
The laser printers are also able to print multiple pages per sheet. Again, click on the Properties option when you print and then select the number of Pages per Sheet.
Print a copy of your document only when it is absolutely necessary. If you only want to proofread your document, you can achieve this purpose by simply using the Print Preview option. When you have finalized your document, you may consider printing a hardcopy.
Your print job will not be entertained if your print quota is exhausted or it is not large enough to support the print job. Checking your print quota before printing can avoid waste of waiting time and subsequent misunderstandings.
The system will deduct your print quota as soon as you submit your print job (not when the printer prints your print job). Therefore, you have to ensure that the printer is not held up by some other print jobs to avoid loss of print quota due to clearance of the printer or print queue.
When you prepare your document at home or somewhere else other than the CSC environment, you might have used a different printer driver. Failure in matching your printer driver with the printers inside CSC could cause unexpected printing results and hence, waste of papers and your print quota. You should therefore ensure that the printer driver selected matches the printer you use.
After submitting a print job, if you find that it is not printed on the printer, you should check the printer status immediately. If the print queue is stuck, inform the Service Counter to fix it. Submitting a print job repeatedly is helpless in solving the problem on the one hand but will quickly exhaust your print quota on the other if the print job is large.
Unattended print jobs will not only waste your print quota but also cause problems to other users. The worst situation is that your document may be disclosed to the public.
