Before you report network connection problems to Student Residence Office, please check the following:
On the Hostel network, your PC must be configured to accept IP address allocation from a DHCP server. You should not attempt to assign an IP address to your PC.
In SR01-03, there are two ports, namely, Port R and Port L, and the IP phone should be connected to Port R. The port in use of a single room is Port R.
In SR04-08, there are two ports in a double room, namely, Port R and Port L, and the IP phone should be connected to Port Right while there is only one port in a single room, called S or Single. (Refer to the IP Phone Quick Reference sent to you in the confirmation of your network connection application)
There are two ports, with outlet id printed on the wall plate, and the IP phone should be connected to the port with preceding outlet id. You may refer to the IP Phone Quick Reference sent to you in the confirmation of your network connection application.
Since IP phone is working, this means Port R (or Port S in single room of SR04-08) is working properly. Most likely the problem is either at the PC side or the patch cord connecting the PC to the IP phone is not working.

The DHCP server will only allocate an IP address to you when your ethernet card address in use matches the one you registered in the Network Connection Management System.
If you believe your PC has been connected to the correct port and configured correctly, yet your PC still cannot connect to the network, try to get another patch cord or to borrow one from Student Residence Office.
To stop the spreading of computer virus from an infected PC, the corresponding network port will be disabled until the owner has cleaned it up and inform CSC so in writing. Owner of the blocked PC will be notified by email.
Report network connection problems to Student Residence Office (not to CSC please) if the answers to all the above questions are 'Yesemail@example.com
