The authorized use of the network port in your room is contingent on the following: 1. Each resident can apply for the registration of only one computer equipped with only one network card in his/her room. 2. At any point in time, each resident can only have one PC connected to the network port. 3. When using the campus network, users must observe the "Policy on Use of IT Services and Facilities" which can be found under "Policies and Guildelines" of the CSC home page. 4. User is authorized to install the Mcafee's Antivirus software (available for download in the Computer Room at the Ground Floor of the Hall) for virus protection as long as (a) it is used on the PC which has been registered with CSC under the user's name and (b) the user is currently a CityU student living at the Student Residence (SR). Moreover, it is the user's responsibility to uninstall the software when the user moves out from the SR. The user is NOT allowed to transfer or to make a copy of this software to others in any way in any format without the permission of its license owner. 5. To comply with the Intellectual Property Ordinance, users must ensure all software running on their PCs have proper licenses, including Microsoft (MS) Windows, MS Office and other applications, and keep them updated by applying security patches regularly. 6. With proper justification, the University can decline any application, or/and terminate any existing network services and connection without advance notice. 7. Registered network card should be only used at the registered network port. 8. Resident should cancel the network registration when the registered network card is no longer in use, disposed or relocated to a machine in other location in the University campus. In case of change of network card, user should register again. 9. The network registration will expire and hence connection will be terminated automatically without advance notice once the user has ceased to be a resident of the halls, or student/staff of the University. 10. Users are fully accountable for any activities they conduct on network from their PCs. 11. Any user who uses unauthorized IP address or forges other user's IP address is a serious offense and may be subject to disciplinary action.
