International Workshop - Political Polarization and Media: Cases in the US, Korea, and Hong Kong

27 Mar 2017 (Mon)

The Department of Media and Communication hosted the International Workshop “Political Polarization and Media: Cases in the US, Korea, and Hong Kong” on March 27th. The three world-famous guest speakers, Dr. Shanto Iyengar (Stanford University), Dr. Kyu S. Hahn (Seoul National University), and Dr. Francis Lee (Chinese University of Hong Kong), gave us intriguing talks on political polarization at both elite and mass level from cross-national perspectives. Three of our colleagues, Dr. Marko Skoric, Dr. Wan-Ying Lin, Dr. Chris Fei Shen, and Dr. Xinzhi Zhang from Hong Kong Baptist University, kindly took the role of discussants and facilitated the active two-way communication between the guest speakers and the audience. The workshop was well-attended by more than 60 people and the participants actively discussed the role of media in political polarization not only during the Q&A session but also in the coffee break.
