12 Apr 2022 (Tue)

On April 11, nearly 70 scholars and students across the world joined a research seminar delivered by Dr. Huynjin Kang, an assistant professor in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University, and shared insights into human-AI research from a psychological perspective. During her talk entitled “Human Agency vs. Machine Agency in Human-AI interaction,” Dr. Kang introduced the findings of her latest studies, including one co-authored with Dr. Ki Joon Kim from our department, and discussed why the recent emergence of AI technology leads to tension between machine and human agency and how the locus of agency influences user perceptions and persuasive outcomes when interacting with AI-based technology.
