Public Relations/Visual Communication and Multimedia [Ref. C/381/09]

Duties
The appointee will work in one of the two areas of (1) Public Relations, and (2) Visual Communication and Multimedia; and teach both theoretical content and hands-on skills. 


Requirements
A PhD in Communication/Media Studies or related disciplines. Candidates for Chair Professor/ Professor/ Associate Professor should have an outstanding record of scholarly achievements in both teaching and research, a strong record in research grant coordination and/or academic management expertise.  Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a solid and promising record of scholarly achievements in both teaching and research.  The appointee is expected to work well with colleagues.   


Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor
Computational Social Science for Communication Research [Ref. C/400/09]

Duties
The appointees will work in one or more of the following areas: (1) Text Mining/Natural Language Processing, (2) Machine Learning, (3) Social Network Analysis, (4) Computer Programming (e.g. R, Python), (5) Infographics/Data Visualization, (6) Mobile Application Design, (7) Data-Driven Journalism, and (8) Computational Humanities; and teach both theoretical content and hands-on skills (i.e. coding for some of the above areas is highly desirable).

 

Requirements
A PhD in Communication/Media Studies/Computer Science/Information Science/Network Science or related disciplines.  Candidates for Chair Professor/ Professor/ Associate Professor should have an outstanding record of scholarly achievements in both teaching and research, a strong record in research grant coordination and/or academic management expertise.  Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a solid and promising record of scholarly achievements in both teaching and research.  The appointees are expected to work well with colleagues.   

 

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.

Duties
Teach the following courses in the upcoming semester in (a) Photojournalism, (b) Video Production and Editing, (c) Strategic Media Planning, (d) Writing for Public Relations, and (e) Broadcast Advertising.

 

Requirements
A relevant Master's degree, or preferably a PhD, with releated professional experience is required. Preference will given to those with teaching experience at university level in the related areas.
