Associate of Arts in Bilingual Communication Studies (FRENCH & ENGLISH) (at Telford Annex)
PROGRAMME AIMS
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:
- Communicate in the spoken and written language of their option (English, Japanese, French, Korean, Spanish) about personal, social, cultural and workplace matters at a level equivalent to an internationally recognized assessment test* ;
- Demonstrate a level of language skills appropriate for further studies, for employment and for personal development ;
- Apply enhanced general knowledge of languages, society and culture of their option for further study and/or employment ;
- Identify and critically explore problems, gather relevant information, carry out and present basic research under guidance, and propose solutions to address problems responsibly both individually and as part of a team ;
- Relate major ideas in arts and humanities, science and technology to their own area of study.

French: B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Japanese: JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) level N3
Korean: KLAT (Korean Language Ability Test) level 2 or TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 3
Spanish: B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
FURTHER STUDIES AND CAREER PROSPECTS
- Articulation routes to local and overseas universities are provided to graduates who wish to obtain a first degree such as CityU BA (Hons) in English Studies, Asian Studies, or European Studies. Suitably qualified students may apply to a BA course in a French university. For details, please refer to the iPASS of HKSAR at http://www.ipass.gov.hk/eng/ .
- The French business presence in the Pearl River Delta and in China is strong and developing and employment opportunities are on offer to competent users of the French language.
- Your communication skills, knowledge of languages and cross-cultural understanding will open doors to a range of companies locally and abroad.
